Pollution in urban China is known internationally. A global pharma company wanted to better understand how to take preventative medication when pollution levels reach certain thresholds, thus avoiding an exacerbation event

What we did_

Using a data set with thousands of health, diagnostic, and weather/pollution data elements, machine learning algorithms produced human-understandable rules around pollution thresholds were built to avoid respiratory flare-ups in a subset of patients.

A marketing and education campaign was launched to increase awareness when preventative medication should be taken for patients with a history of respiratory illnesses, improving quality of life, and increasing pharmaceutical sales in the growing China marketplace
